Remembering disability institutions
It is important we remember disability institutions.
Disability institutions are big places where many people with disability used to live.
CID worked on a project about how to remember disability institutions with the University of Technology Sydney.
We say UTS for short.
The project says how we can remember the disability self advocates who helped close the disability institutions.
Self advocates are people with disability who speak up for their rights.
We have made Easy Read information about
- What disability institutions are (PDF)
- What we learned in our project (PDF)
- How we can remember disability self advocates (PDF)
- How to be a self advocate for closing down disability institutions (PDF).
We also made videos that show disability self advocates talking about disability institutions.

CID made the Easy Read information and videos with people with intellectual disability and UTS.
We want to thank UTS and the people with intellectual disability who helped us in the project.
