Technology

People with intellectual disability have the right to effective communications to let them live a good life.

More and more, people need to use technology to access goods and services but developers rarely take into consideration access needs of people with intellectual disability.

"I couldn’t really use a computer at all before COVID. But I have been able to learn with support."

What we are doing

Websites, smartphones, online banking systems and other technologies can assist people with intellectual disability to communicate.

But the technology must be:

  • as easy to use as possible.
  • fully accessible to people with intellectual disability.

At CID we are supporting people with intellectual disability to take part in consultations about technology including transport, banking and app development.

We create information and guides to support people with intellectual disability to understand and access technology.
