Abuse and neglect

People with intellectual disability experience abuse and neglect at alarmingly high rates.

No one should ever experience abuse and neglect. But if they do, they should be able to get the support they need.

It’s time to shine a big bright light on the abuse of people with disability and ask why is it happening still?

What we are doing

Our members have successfully campaigned for a Royal Commission into the abuse and neglect of people with intellectual disability.

We made Easy Read information about the Disability Royal Commission so that all people with intellectual disability were able to understand how it worked and how to get involved.

We also share information about the other important commissions that are there to protect and help: the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and the NSW Ageing and Disability Commission.

We create resources to help people with intellectual disability to understand abuse and how to take action.
