New board directors

  • James Condren has been on boards before.

  • He brings experience in

    • Mental health
    • Courts.
  • He wants to use what he knows to make things better for people with disability.

  • Anthony Mulholland has been a member of the CID advocacy group for a long time.

  • He wants to bring new ideas to CID.

  • He wants to use the things he has lived through to make CID a better place.

  • Emily Wailes has worked with people with disability for over 20 years.

  • She wants to help CID speak up about big issues.

  • She wants to make sure that people with intellectual disability can have their say.

New board officers

  • The board voted for officers at their first meeting after the AGM.

  • The Chairperson of the board is Fiona McKenzie.

  • The Vice Chairs are

  • The Treasurer is Alex Hitchcock.

  • The Treasurer looks after CIDs money.

  • The Secretary is Ariella Meltzer.

  • The Secretary plans and takes notes at meetings.

I can decide in my language

  • CID has money to do some new projects.

  • One is called I can decide in my language.

  • This project will work with people who

    • Come from a different country
    • Speak a different language.
  • The project will make information in different languages.

  • The information will be for

    • People with intellectual disability
    • Family members and supporters
    • Support workers.

The Anchor

  • During COVID lockdowns we made a meditation.

    It can help you feel calm.

Making organisations more inclusive

  • CID has services to help organisations be more inclusive.

    Inclusive means we can all be part of things.

  • We have workshops to teach people to write in Easy Read.

  • We can make information into Easy Read for organisations.

  • We can help organisations make plans to be inclusive.

  • We can ask people with intellectual disability what they think about the plans.

  • You can tell organisations you know about these services.

Wollongong Workability Expo

  • CID will be at the Wollongong Workability Expo.

    We will say the Expo for short.

  • The Expo will be at the Fraternity Club in Fairy Meadow.

  • The Expo will be on Tuesday 3 December from 10am to 3pm.

  • CID will be doing a workshop called More than Just a Job at 12pm.

  • CID will also have a stall at the Expo.

  • International Day of People with Disability is on Tuesday 3 December.

  • It is a day to celebrate the great things people with disability do.

  • People with Disability Australia are having a conference.

    It is called A Voice of Our Own.

  • It is for people with disability.

  • The conference will be online.

  • It is on Tuesday 3 December from 1pm to 3.30pm.

  • Accessible Arts is having a talk called Access Ideas and Insights.

  • It is about how to work as an artist when you have a disability.

    • Artists with disability
    • Their supporters.

Jobs available at the National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health

  • The National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health wants to make health care better for people with intellectual disability.

    We call it the Centre for short.

    • Make sure the centre does inclusion well.
    • Work with different teams
    • Test information and resources

New Years Eve Accessibility
