End of Life – Just Include Me: Supporting people with intellectual disability with death, dying and grief

Who should attend: Health, disability, and end-of-life professionals and staff who support people with intellectual disability and their families as part of their job.

Aim: This workshop aims to build health, disability, and end-of-life professionals’ confidence, knowledge and skills to support people with intellectual disability through death, dying and grief.

Learning outcomes: By attending this workshop attendees will:

  • Gain lived experience insights from facilitators with intellectual disability
  • Build confidence initiating conversations about death, dying and grief
  • Develop skills in inclusive and accessible communication
  • Strengthen understanding of supported decision-making for end-of-life matters
  • Identify ways to ensure care planning reflects the preferences and choices of people with intellectual disability
  • Increase knowledge of end-of-life care, palliative care and Advance Care Planning for people with intellectual disability.
