Facilitator in Focus – Tammy Burnstock

22 May 2017

“I feel like we are on a crest of a wave, and whatever we do in this period of time creates what this is going to be.”

For our Get More Skills workshop facilitator Tammy Burnstock the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme represented a huge opportunity for change for people with disabilities, and she knew early on that she wanted to be a part of that change.

Tammy joined the CID team after previously being involved in two projects funded by CID’s My Choice  Matters RUN Project grants program.

What had most impressed her most during her encounters with CID was the positive attitudes and advocacy-based approach within it, and she saw these characteristics as being key to success of the NDIS implementation.

“I was excited about the NDIS and wanted to be involved at the beginning of this massive and very positive change for people,” Tammy said.

“I think it’s got so much potential, but it is relationships and people that make things work in the end.”

Tammy loves her job de-mystifying the new disability support system and helping people prepare for it by forming goals around what they want to get out of their lives.

But the queen of curl wears many different hats in her life outside of CID. Just ask her about her time writing for Play School and her passion for scented storytelling!
