The National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health
-
The National Centre for Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health is launching on Friday 13 October.
We will say Centre for short.
-
The Centre will help people with intellectual disability have better health.
-
It will help by
- Talking to people with intellectual disability about what they need
-
- Talking with researchers about research that needs to be done
-
- Talking with health care workers to make sure they are doing the right things for people with intellectual disability
Why we want the Centre
-
CID has been asking for the Centre for a long time.
-
The health system does not do a good job for people with intellectual disability.
-
CID did a campaign about making the health system better for people with intellectual disability.
-
A campaign is a big plan to show the government what we want.
-
Part of the campaign was asking for the Centre. The government listened and agreed.
-
The Centre will look into making health care better for people with intellectual disability.
-
The Centre will make sure people with intellectual disability are treated the same as everyone else by health services.
