What CID thinks about supported decision making and guardianship

  • Position statements are papers that say what CID thinks about different issues.

  • Each position statement has an Easy Read version.

  • This position statement is about supported decision making and guardianship.

  • Supported decision making is when you make your own decisions with the right support.

  • Guardianship is when someone else makes decisions for you.

  • People with intellectual disability have the right to make their own decisions.

  • We want NSW to make a new law.

This would mean people have a right to have support to make their own decisions.

  • You can learn more in our position paper at the link.
