Record breaking motorcyclist teams up with CID

Ben Felten is one inspiring guy! He recently smashed the Australian Speed Week record for fastest speed for a motorcycle ridden blindfolded.

Ben was born fully sighted, but a degenerative eye disease, Retinitis Pigmentosa, left him completely blind by his late twenties.

His passion for pushing boundaries is infectious and he wants to use his story to help people with a disability get the most out of life.

“I see the NDIS as a game changer for people with disability to have more choice and control,” Ben said.

“It gives people better access to resources to gain skills, try and find a job and improve their life, and I think that’s awesome.”

Ben can speak from experience about the benefits of good preparation and goal setting when it comes to the NDIS.

He was able to secure funding for his seeing-eye dog, transport, an accessible phone, and adaptive technology for synthetic screen reading software.

He also received funding for a gym instructor, and the advice of an occupational therapist on how to set up his kitchen so that he can cook independently.
