Consent and decision-making

June 2026

This guide will help you identify and apply decision-support strategies within clinical care to preserve the rights of people with intellectual disability to make health decisions

The Just Include Me Practical Guides Series

The Just Include Me Practical Guides Series provides quick reference guides for health professionals to support equitable care and improved health outcomes for people with intellectual disability.

The Series is designed for health professionals who want practical, evidence-informed strategies they can apply immediately when supporting a person with intellectual disability.

Each guide focuses on a key area of inclusive healthcare and provides practical approaches, conversation prompts, reflective questions and links to additional resources. You can add answers and notes digitally into the PDF file, or print them out and fill them out by hand

The guides can be used as quick point-of-care references, as part of staff orientation, team education and supervision, or alongside the Just Include Me eLearning and webinar to support ongoing learning and inclusive practice improvement.
