Our position statement on supported decision making and guardianship law

July 2023

People with intellectual disability have an equal right to decide.

We have updated our Supported Decision Making and Guardianship Law Reform position statement.

We want New South Wales to make a new law that says people with intellectual disability have the right to support for decision making.

When people with intellectual disability receive decision support and adjustments in the decision making process, their capability to make their own decisions is enhanced.

Decision making capability = the individual person + supporters + adjustments.
